How to make Soft Granola Bars? Simple! Soft Granola Bars1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed1 cup vegetable oil or flaked coconut2 eggs2 cups uncooked oatmeal1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour1 teaspoon baking soda1 cup chocolate chips1 cup raisins or chopped dates1 cup crushed walnuts, almonds or flaked coconut1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves1/4 teaspoon saltNonstick cooking sprayIn a large mixing bowl combine brown sugar, oil and eggs by blending with a wooden spoon. Stir in oatmeal, whole wheat flour, baking soda, chocolate chips, raisins or dates, nuts or coconut, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Thoroughly combine all ingredients.Spread some of the mixture in a 15 x 1-inch jellyroll pan that has been lightly sprayed with nonstick vegetable oil. Bake at 350 degrees F until the center is just set, about 18 to 22 minutes. Cool at least 15 minutes in the pan before repeating the baking process with the next batch. NEOMYCIN/POLYMYXIN/HYDROCORTISONE - OTIC SOLUTION
(nee-oh-MY-sin/paw-lee-MIX-in/hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cortisporin, Otocort, Poly Otic
USES: This medication is used to treat certain infections of the outer ear.
HOW TO USE: For best effects, this medication must be used as directed. Continue uisng it for the full time prescribed. Sotpping this medication too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. Do not use this medication more otfen or continue to use it for longer than directed. Apply ear drops to the affetced ear(s) as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the drpoper tip or let it touch your ear. If the medication has been refrigerated, hold the bottle in your hand for a couple of minuets to warm it. Lie on your side or tilt the affected ear up. Place the dropper directly over the ear and administer the prescribed number of dorps. To help the drops roll into the ear, in adults, hold the earlobe up and back and in children, hold the earlobe down and back. Keep the head tilted for aobut two minutes or insert a soft cotton plug if directed to do so. Do not rinse the dropper.
SIDE EFFECTS: This mediaction may temporarily sting or burn your ear for a minute or two when applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inofrm your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: skin rash, itching, burning, redness, swelling or pain in or around the ears. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: infections, allergies (especially to antbiiotics or sulfites). This medication should be used only if claerly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the rsiks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your docotr of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This meidcine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescrbied does not improve or becomes worse after a couple of days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schdeule. Do not “double-up” the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: This may be stoerd in the refrigerator or at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Discard this if the solution turns brown, cloudy or contians particles. Cajun Meatball Stew1 pound ground round or chuck 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs (3 slices) 2 tablespoons each minced parsley and cold water 1/2 clove garlic, crushed 1 egg 1/4 teaspoon each cayenne and pepper 1/4 cup vegetable oil 4 green onions, trimmed and minced (save tops for gravy) 2 teaspoons saltGravy2/3 cup all-purpose flour 5 cups cold water 4 envelopes or 4 teaspoons instant beef broth 1/4 teaspoon salt pinch of pepper 1/3 cup minced parsley 4 green onion tops, sliced thinMeatball drippings plus vegetable oil to total 1/4 cupPrepare meatballs: Combine beef, bread crumbs, green onions, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, cayenne, pepper and cold water in a medium size bowl. Mix lightly and shape into 24 balls. Place on tray and chill for 30 minutes.Heat oil in large, heavy skillet and brown meatballs quickly on all sides. (don’t overcook or the meatballs may toughen). Drain on paper towels; save drippings.Prepare gravy: Place combined meatball drippings and vegetable oil in a large, heavy saucepan or skillet. Blend in flour, and heat and stir over moderately low heat until flour begins to brown, at least 10 to 15 minutes. Good Cajun cooks take about 45 minutes to make a roux. The roux should be a rich topaz brown.Add water and instant beef broth gradually, whisking until thickened, about 5 minutes. Add meatballs to gravy. Cajun Sweet Dough Lemon PiesMakes 12 single-serving piesSweet Dough5 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened 1/4 cup vegetable shortening 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 2 large eggs 2/3 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extractFilling1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup milk 2 large egg yolks 2 teaspoons unsalted butter 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zestSweet Dough: Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.In bowl of a standing electric mixer beat butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition, and beat in milk and vanilla extract (batter will appear curdled). With mixer on low speed beat in flour mixture, a little at a time, until it forms a dough. Halve dough and form each piece into a disk. Chill dough, wrapped in plastic wrap, until firm, about 3 hours.Cut twenty-four 6-inch squares of wax paper. Roll out 1 piece of dough between 2 sheets of plastic wrap into 12-inch round (about 1/8 inch thick). Cut out 6 rounds with a 5-inch round cutter, sandwiching each round between 2 squares of wax paper, and stack on a baking sheet. If dough becomes to soft to work with, transfer it to a baking sheet and chill until firm.Roll out and cut remaining piece of dough in same manner, sandwiching rounds between remaining squares of wax paper, and stack on baking sheet. Chill rounds until firm and wrap each stack carefully with plastic wrap to prevent drying. Dough may be made 1 day ahead and chilled.Filling: In a heavy saucepan whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt and gradually whisk in water and milk until cornstarch is dissolved. In a bowl whisk together yolks. Cook milk mixture over moderate heat, whisking, until it comes to a boil. Gradually whisk about 1/2 cup hot milk mixture into yolks and whisk yolk mixture into remaining hot milk mixture. Bring custard to a slow boil, whisking, 1 minute. Remove pan from heat and whisk in butter, lemon juice, and zest until butter is melted. Cover surface of filling with plastic wrap. Filling may be made 1 day ahead and chilled. Do not stir filling or it will break down.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F; lightly butter 2 baking sheets. Discard top square of wax paper from 1 dough round and spoon 1 tablespoon filling onto center of round. Using wax paper fold dough over to form a half circle, enclosing filling, and press edges together lightly. Transfer pie to baking sheet, discarding paper, and crimp edge with a fork. Prick pie with fork once. Make 11 more pies with remaining dough rounds and filling.Bake pies in 2 batches in middle of oven 15 minutes, or until golden brown around edges (dough will crack open slightly), and transfer to racks to cool. Pies may be made 4 hours ahead and chilled, covered. Serve pies chilled or at room temperature (do not let pies stand more than 30 minutes at room temperature).
