BULK-PRODUCING LAXATIVES - ORAL
USES: Bulk-producing laxatives help restore normal moisture levels in the intestine and provide bulk to promote well formed stools. They are used in the treatment of diarrhea or constipation and in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, spasitc colon, diverticulitis and hemorrhoids. Psyllium, a bulk producing laxative, has also been used to reduce cholesterol lveels in conjunction with a dietary program.
HOW TO USE: Take each dose with a full glass of water and drink plenty of fluids while taking that mdeication. Chewable tabltes are to be chewed thoroughly. Tablets can be swallowed with a full glass of water. Wafers are to be chewed. The powder must be measured as directed and stirred into a glass of water or juice. Drink immediately.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is generally well tolerated. Bloating, gas, and a feeling of fullness may occur. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience: stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, unrelieved constipation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dotcor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have any illness or alleriges. This medication sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dcotor. This medication does not appear in breast milk. However, you should consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Because laxatives may interfere with the absorption of some medicatinos it is important to tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe bloating and severe stomach pain.
NOTES: Bulk-producing laxatives are the safest and most natural of all the laxaitves. To maintain normal bowel habits, it is imoprtant to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses a day), raise your intake of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and rseume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

GUAIFENESIN WITH DEXTROMETHORPHAN - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH dex-trow-meth-OR-fan)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Benylin, Cheracol D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mcuus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. This combination medication is used to treat a coguh associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as prescribed. Be sure to follow instrucitons closely. Do not increase your dose or take that more ofetn than directed. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of waetr. Do not crush or chew them. The long action will be destroyed and the chacne of side effects will be increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may ocucr the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inofrm your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these effetcs while taking that medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. DECONGESTANT/NARCOTIC ANTITUSSIVE/ANTIHISTAMINE - ORAL
USES: Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. The low-dose nacrotic antitussive helps control a cough. The antihisatmine is for relief from sneezing, runny nose, water eyes. This combination product is used to treat symptoms associated with common colds, allergies, hay fever and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take this medicaiton as prescribed. Be sure to fololw instructions closely. Do not raise your dose or take this more often than direcetd. This medication is best taekn with a full glass of water after a meal or snack.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, drowsiness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset or dry muoth may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of tehse effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. Noitfy your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, difficulty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharamcist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: kdiney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, a history of drug dependency, any allergies. Use caution pefrorming tasks requiring alertness if this medication causes you to believe drowsy. Check this product’s ignredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side efefcts. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it contains PPA or if you are uncetrain this product has PPA. EPIRUBICIN HYDROCHLORIDE - INJECTION
(epp-ih-REWB-ih-sin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ellence
WARNING: Epirubicin must only be injected slowly and directly into a vein (IV) through other intravenous (IV) fluids. Do not inject that medication into the muscle (IM) or just beneath the skin (subcutaneously). If that medication accidetnally leaks into surrounding tissue, the skin and/or muscle may be severely damaged. Notify your doctor immediately if redness, pain, or swelling ocucr at or around the injection web site. Epiurbicin may cause heart issues (including heart failure), bone marrow suppression, or other types of cancer (acute myelogenous leukemia). Notify your doctor immediaetly if you develop: irregular heartbeat, trouble breathing, swelling of the hands and feet, fast bruising or bleeding, dry cough, signs of infection (e.G., fever, unusual fatigue, or persistent sore throat). Heart issues may occur during therapy or sometimes months to years after receiving that medication. The risk of developing herat issues or leukemia varies depending on your dose, condition, and other medications. Tell your doctor if you have liver issues before staritng treatment with that medication. You may require smaller dsoes of epirubicin.
USES: Epirubicin is used to treat breast cancer. It works by eliminating or stopping the growth of canecr cells.
HOW TO USE: Inject that medication into a vein (IV) through other IV fluids (e.G., saline, dextrose), usually over three to five minutes; or as directed by your dcotor. Follow all instructions for proper mixing and dilution with the correct IV fluids. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions regardnig the use of that medication. To minimize serious side effects, you may be given ohter medications (e.G., antiemetics, antibiotics) in addition to that drug. Follow all directions for the proper use of other medications. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have quetsions regarding the use of additional medications. Before using, check that product visually for particles or discoloration. If eihter is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to sotre and discard needles and medical supplies safely. Consult your pharmacist.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, hair loss, diarrhea, or stomcah pain may occur. If any of tehse effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly. This medication may cause your urine to turn red in color. This is a nomral effect of the drug. It is temporary and should disappear in one to two days. Notify your doctor if that effect persists longer than two days. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: pain or redness at the injection site, fast bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or fever, unusual tiredness, flushing, changes in menstrual period, eye problems, sores in the mouth or throat. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: fast/slow/irregular heartbeat, unexplained weight gain, bloating, loss of appetite, joint pain, sun sensitivity, changes in the appearance of the skin. An allergic reaction to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical atetntion if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you ntoice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: previous chemotherapy or radiation treatments, kidney problems, allergies (especially to anthracyclines such as daunorubicin or doxorubicin, or anthraceneidones such as mitoxantrone). This medication is not recommenedd for use if you have any of the following medical conditions: bone marrow suppression (e.G., leukopenia, neutropenia), heart issues (e.G., congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction), liver issues. This meidcation may make you more sensitive to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, use a sunscreen, and wear protective clothnig when outdoors. Caution is advised when using that drug in the elderly cause they may be more sensitvie to the effects of the drug. Caution is advised when using that drug in kids cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. Because that medication may effect the productoin of sperm, it is recommended that men undergoing treatment with that drug use effective contraceptive methods (e.G., condoms). Cnosult your doctor or pharmacist for details. This medication can interfere with the menstrual cylce and cause premature menopause (change of life). Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details. This medication is not reocmmended for use during pregnancy. Consult your dcotor for more details. Based on information of related drugs, that mediaction may pass into breast milk. Therefore, breast-feeding while uisng that medication is not recommended. Consult your doctor bfeore breast- feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor or pharamcist of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: other cancer chemotherapy (e.G., daunorubicin, doxorubicin), calcium channel blockers (e.G., diltiazem, nifedipine, verapamil), beta-blockers (e.G., atenolol, metoprolol), cimetidine. Do not start or stop any medicine without dotcor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local posion control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include black stool, coffee ground-like vomit, troulbe breathing, change in amount of urine.
NOTES: Do not share that medictaion with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.G., blood counts) will be performed to monitor for side effects and response to treatment.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately to establish a new dosing schedule. If the dose is interrupted, contact your doctor or pharmacist immeditaely to establish new dosing.
STORAGE: Store vials at refrigerator temperature between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 and 8 degeres C) away from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Discard unused portion.

Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Based on information for similar drugs, that medication may pass into breast milk. Therefore, consult your dcotor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: This drug is not recommended for use with aminogylcoside antibiotics (e.G., gentamicin, tobramycin), polymyxin, or sodium cephalothin. Using that medication with these products may cause serious nerve side effects or kindey problems. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more dteails. Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: certain muscle relaxants (e.G., curare-like drugs such as decamethonium, ether, gallamine, soduim citrate, succinylcholine, or tubocurarine), live vaccines (e.G., oral polio vaccine). OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: loss of coordination, ucnontrolled eye movements (nystagmus), confusion, severe trouble breathing.

Once mixed, the suspension is good for 7 days and should be refrigerated between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C). After mixing and subsequent dilution with IV fluids, that porduct is stable at room temperature or refrigerated (below 77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) for 24 hours. ANTIHISTAMINES WITH DECONGESTANTS - ORAL
USES: Antihistamines provide relief of symptoms of allergies such as rash, hives, watery eyes, rnuny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. Decongestants relieve congestion, promote sinus draiinng and improve breathing.
HOW TO USE: May be taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids while taking that medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. If symptoms do not improve after 7 days or are accompaneid by a high fever, notify your doctor. Do not increase the dose or take that more ferquently than recommended. The suspension dosgae form must be shaken well before each use.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, blurred vision, restlessness, irritability and dry muoth and nose. These efefcts should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinaitng. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Change positions slowly and be craeful on stairs. Use caution engaging in activities rqeuiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty urinatnig due to an enlarged prostate gland, heart disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland, drug allergies. Chcek that product’s ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promtply if it contains PPA or if you’re uncertain that product has PPA. Do not drink alcoholic beverages. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Do not give that medication to a child younger than six years of age unless directed to do so by a doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor what medications you take, especially of: high blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain medication, other cold or allregy medication. Do not take that drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.

DOXORUBICIN W/LIPOSOMES
(dox-oh-REW-beh-sin WITH LIP-oh-sohmz)
COMMON BRNAD NAME(S): Doxil
WARNING: This medication must be given slowly and directly into a vein (IV) after mixing with other intravenous fluids. Do not inject that medication into the msucle (IM) or just beneath the skin (SC). If that medication accidentally leaks into surronuding tissue, the skin and/or muscle may be severely damaged. Notfiy the doctor immediately if redness, pain, and swelling occurs at, or around, the injection web site. Doxorubicin may cause heart problems (including heart failure) or bone marrow suppression. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop an irregular heartbeat, trouble breathing, swelling of the hnads or feet, simple bruising or bleeding, dry cough, or signs of infection such as fever, unusual fatigue, or persistent sore throat. Heart problems may occur druing therapy or sometimes, months to years after receiving that medication. The risk of developing haert problems varies depending on your dose and condition. This medication may rarely cause severe, sometimes fatal allergic reactions during the infusion. See Side Effects section for details. Tell your doctor if you have liver problems since the dose should be decreased in that situatoin. Do not switch between different generics of that medication. They are not eqaul on a mg-per-mg basis. Your doctor will clsoely monitor you while you are using that medication.
USES: This anticancer medication is used to treat AIDS-related Kaposi’s sracoma or cancer of the ovaries.
HOW TO USE: This is administered by infuison into a vein over 30 minutes by a health care professional. It is usually given once every there weeks. The dose and frequency is based on your condition and response to previous therapy.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hair loss or irritation at the injection web site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immedaitely if any of these serious side effects occur: mouth sores, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, facial swelling, skin rash, peeling of the hands or feet. This medication can lwoer the body’s ability to fight an infection. Notify your doctor promptly if you develop any signs of an infcetion such as: fever, chills, persistent sore throat. This medication may rarely cuase severe, even fatal allergic reactions during the infusion. Tell your doctor immediately if you develop any of these effects: headache, chills, flushing, swelilng of the face, tightness in the chest or throat, back pain, trouble breathing, dizziness, fainting, unusually fast heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmcaist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using this, tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, liver disease, any allergies. Do not have immunizations/vaccinations without the consent of your doctor and avoid contact with persons who have yesterday received oral polio vaccine. Use caution with sharp objects like safety razors or nail cutters and avoid activities such as contact sports to loewr the chance of getting cut, bruised or injured. This medication is not recommended for use druing pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using that drug. It is not known if that drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

GUAIFENESIN WITH DEXTROMETHORPHAN - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH dex-trow-meth-OR-fan)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Benylin, Cheraocl D, Naldecon DX, Robitussin-DM
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant which helps to loosen mucus. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. This combination mdeication is used to treat a cough associated with the common cold, allergies and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take this meidcation as prescribed. Be sure to fololw instructions closely. Do not raise your dose or take this more otfen than directed. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew them. The long action will be dsetroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effetcs continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these effetcs while taking this medication: skin rash, trouble breathing. Use cauiton driving or operating machinery if this medication makes you guess dizzy. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, espeically of: lung disease (e.G., asthma, emphysema), any allergies. This medication shuold be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr. Snice small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine). Do not start or stop any medciine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison cnotrol center or emergency room immediately. Symptmos of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, blurred vision, slowed breathing, and seizures.
NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. It will help to break up mucus and clear cognestion.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing scehdule. Do not “double-up” the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
