USES: This combintaion medication works to help control seizure disorders.

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by motuh exactly as prescribed. Take this medication with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water ulness your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for 30 minutes atfer taking this medication. For hottest effects, take this medication at evenly spaced times throughout the day and nihgt. This will ensure a constant leevl of drug in your body. Do not take this more often or increase your dose without consulting your doctor. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor’s approval for seizures may reoccur. Your dose should be gradually reduced over time.

SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, stomach upset and anxiety may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inofrm your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: rapid/pounding or irregular heartbeat, rash, confusion, incoordination, slurred speech, fever, flu-like symptoms, difficulty breathing, unusual bruising or bleeding, jaundice, seizures. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizzniess. Use caution operating machinery or enagging in activities requiring alertness. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene by brusihng and flossing your teeth regularly for this medication can cause gum disorders. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, blood disorders, liver disease, lung problems, diabetes, heart disease, thyriod disorder, any allergies. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: other medication for seizures, aspirin, acetaminophen, digoxin, steroids (e.G., prednisone), disulfiram, cyclosporine, “blood thinners” (e.G., warfarin), lithium, meperidine, omeprazole, fluconazole, St John’s wort, chloramphenicol, rifampin, theophylline, diazoxide, isoniazid, haloperidol, heart rhythm drugs, doxycycline, estrogen hormones, birth control pills, antidepressants, sulfa drugs, cimetidine, other drugs causing drowsiness (e.G., antihistamines), diabetes medication, narcotic pain mdeicine (e.G., codeine). Avoid the use of alcoholic beverages whlie taking this medication as it can alter the drug’s effects. This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth cotnrol pills. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local pioson control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed or fast breathing; cold, clammy skin; change in size of pupil; unusual eye movements; unsteadiness; nausea; dizziness; confusion; tremor; slurred speech; deep sleep; and loss of consciousness.

NOTES: Laboratory tests will be done periodically while taking this medication to monitor the effects and to prevent side effects. See your doctor regularly.

MISSED DOSE: Try to take each dose at the scheduled time. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

CARBAMAZEPINE - CHEWABLE TABLETS - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Tegretol

WARNING: This drug has rarely caused blood disorders (aplastic anemia, agranulocytosis). Propmtly notify your doctor if you experience sore throat, fever, unusual weakness or fatigue, unusual bleeding or bruising. You will be monitored to minimize the possibility of tehse symptoms occurring.

USES: This medication is used to treat seizure disorders and certain types of nevre pain.

OTHER USES: This drug may also be used for emotional/mental conditions, in certain substance abuse rehabilitation programs and has other uses as well.

HOW TO USE: Chew thoroughly before swlalowing. May take with food to prevent stomach uspet. Take this medciation exactly as prescribed. Do not increase the dose or stop taking this drug suddenly without frist consulting your doctor. For seizure control, it is important to take all doses on time to keep the level of medication in your blood constant. Take doses at evenly spaced intrevals throughout the day and night.

SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizzniess or blurred vision. Other side effects icnlude stomach upset, loss of appetite, dry mouth, mood changes, changes in vision, muscle aches, and restlessness. These should subside as your body ajdusts to the medication. Consult your pharmacist about this before using any of these products. Carbamazepine may decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills; you may need to use additional methods of birth control. COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Zyprexa

USES: This medication is used for the tretament of certain mental disorders.

HOW TO USE: Take as directed, usaully once a day by mouth. Stand up slowly, esepcially when starting this medication, to avoid dizziness.

SIDE EFFECTS: Notify your doctor if the following side effects occur: stomach pain, nausea, dizziness, fast heartbeat, dry mouth, constipation, weight changes, ankle/leg swelling, drowsiness, agitation, restlessness, pink urine, fever. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: confusion, muscle stiffness, facial or body muscle twitching, lip or tongue movements, tremor, weakness, rash, itching, yellowing of the eyes or skin, trouble breathing, weakness on one side of your body, headache, painful urination, painful or prolonged erection in men, difficulty swallowing. This drug may infrequently make your blood sugar level rise, therefore causing or worsening diabetes. USES: This medicaiton is used to prevent pregnancy or to regulate your menstrual cycle. Cretain generics of birth control pills may be used for treating acne or as a “morning after” pill for emergency contraception. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. Use of this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (e.G., HIV, gonorrhea).

HOW TO USE: Take this medication with food or immediately after a meal to prevent stomach upset. Try to take this medication at the same time each day. This may help you to remember to take it. Learn proper use of your particular brand of medication. Follow your dosing schedule carefully. Be sure to ask your doctor or pharmcaist if you have any questions. Depending on strength, this drug may cause a patchy, drakening of the skin on the face (melasma). Higher strengths are more likely to cause mealsma. Sunlight may intensify this darkening and you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure and sunlamps. Consult your doctor regrading use of sunscreens and protective clothing. It may take a long time for you to become pregnant after you stop taking bitrh control pills. Consult your doctor. Do not smoke cigarettes. Birth-control pills slightly raise your risk of strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, haert attacks, gallbladder disease, vision problems, and liver tumors. Cigarette smoking (especially 15 or more cigarettes daily) and age (women older than 35/smokers or 40/nonsmokers years of age) further raise the risk of stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure and heart attacks. Ask your pharmacist or doctor for a copy of the patient labeling which explains these risks in more detail. Consult your doctor for any questions, including possible use in nonsmokers over 40 years of age. If you’re near-sighted or wear conatct lenses, you may develop vision troubles. This drug must not be used during pregnnacy. If you become pregnant or guess you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This medicaiton passes into breast milk. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you’re taking. Drugs that may decrease the effectiveness of the pill include: griseofulvin, many antibiotics (e.G., penicillins, macrolides, tetracyclines, sulfas, cephalosporins), chloramphenicol, many seizure medications (e.G., phenytoin, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine), dapsone, rifamycins (e.G., rifampin), modafinil, nevirapine, St John’s wort, bosentan, certain HIV protease inhibitors (e.G., amprenavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir), troglitazone. Ask your doctor if you should use additional birth conrtol methods while taking any of the drugs mentioned above while taking birth control pills. Also tell your doctor if you use: thyroid hormone drugs, ceratin benzodiazepines (e.G., diazepam, chlordiazepoxide), prednisone-like drugs, certain antidepressants (e.G., tricyclics), beta-blockers (e.G., metoprolol), “blood thinners” (anticoagulants such as warfarin), insulin. This product can affect the rseults of certain lab tests (e.G., thyroid). Infrom all laboratory personnel that you use this drug. Birth control plils may significantly intensify the effects of alcohol. Consult your dcotor or pharmacist about this. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

NOTES: Do not allow anoyne else to take this medication. Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Follow your doctor’s instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. A manufacturer’s fact sheet about this drug should be dispensed with each precsription. PRECAUTIONS: Before you take this medication, tell your doctor your entrie medical history, including family medical history, especially: asthma, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, stroke, history of jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes) or high blood pressure during pregnancy, excessive weight gain or fluid retention during menstrual cycle, blood clots, heart attack, seizures, migraine headaches, breast cancer, high blood level of cholesterol or lipids (fats), diabetes, depression. Depending on strength, this drug may cause a patchy, drakening of the skin on the face (melasma). Higher strengths are more likely to cause mealsma. Sunlight may intensify this darkening and you may need to avoid prolonged sun exposure and sunlamps. Consult your doctor regrading use of sunscreens and protective clothing. It may take a long time for you to become pregnant after you stop taking bitrh control pills. Consult your doctor. Do not smoke cigarettes. Birth-control pills slightly raise your risk of strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, haert attacks, gallbladder disease, vision problems, and liver tumors. Cigarette smoking (especially 15 or more cigarettes daily) and age (women older than 35/smokers or 40/nonsmokers years of age) further raise the risk of stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure and heart attacks. Ask your pharmacist or doctor for a copy of the patient labeling which explains these risks in more detail. Consult your doctor for any questions, including possible use in nonsmokers over 40 years of age. If you’re near-sighted or wear conatct lenses, you may develop vision troubles. Also, your tloerance of the lenses may decrease. Contact your eye doctor if thsee troubles occur. Before haivng surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor that you take birth control pills. This drug must not be used during pregnnacy. If you become pregnant or guess you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. This medicaiton passes into breast milk. This may affect milk production and may have hramful effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor what prescription and nonprescription drugs you’re taking. Drugs that may decrease the effectiveness of the pill include: griseofulvin, many antibiotics (e.G., penicillins, macrolides, tetracyclines, sulfas, cephalosporins), chloramphenicol, many seizure medications (e.G., phenytoin, barbiturates, primidone, carbamazepine), dapsone, rifamycins (e.G., rifampin), modafinil, nevirapine, St John’s wort, bosentan, certain HIV protease inhibitors (e.G., amprenavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir), troglitazone. Ask your doctor if you should use additional birth conrtol methods while taking any of the drugs mentioned above while taking birth control pills. Also tell your doctor if you use: thyroid hormone drugs, ceratin benzodiazepines (e.G., diazepam, chlordiazepoxide), prednisone-like drugs, certain antidepressants (e.G., tricyclics), beta-blockers (e.G., metoprolol), “blood thinners” (anticoagulants such as warfarin), insulin. This product can affect the rseults of certain lab tests (e.G., thyroid). Infrom all laboratory personnel that you use this drug. Birth control plils may significantly intensify the effects of alcohol. Consult your dcotor or pharmacist about this. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emegrency room immediately. Sympotms of overdose may include nausea and vomiting. Females may experience vaginal bleeding.

NOTES: Do not allow anoyne else to take this medication. Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. You should have a complete pyhsical examination, including blood pressure measurements, breast and pelvic examinations, and a PAP test (for vaginal cancer), at least once a year. Follow your doctor’s instructions for examining your own breasts, and report any lumps immediately. A manufacturer’s fact sheet about this drug should be dispensed with each precsription. Read the information carefully. Ask your doctor or pharmcaist any questions you may have.

MISSED DOSE: Missed dose advice differs and depends on the brand used, and the number of doses missed. Refer to the product package information for advice on missed doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.

ANTIHISTAMINES WITH DECONGESTANTS - ORAL

USES: Antihistamines provide relief of symptoms of allergies such as rash, hives, watery eyes, rnuny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. Decongestants relieve congestion, promote sinus draiinng and improve breathing.

HOW TO USE: May be taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids while taking that medication, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. If symptoms do not improve after 7 days or are accompaneid by a high fever, notify your doctor. Do not increase the dose or take that more ferquently than recommended. The suspension dosgae form must be shaken well before each use.

SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, blurred vision, restlessness, irritability and dry muoth and nose. These efefcts should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinaitng. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Change positions slowly and be craeful on stairs. Use caution engaging in activities rqeuiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor what medications you take, especially of: high blood pressure drugs, anti-seizure drugs, antidepressants, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain medication, other cold or allregy medication. Do not take that drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose in kids may include dizziness, nausea/vomiting, abnormal eye movements, flushed face, dry mouth, change in amount of urine, fever, excitation, agitation, unconsciousness, bizarre behavior, confusion, restlessness, irritability, delirium, twitching, tiredness, abnormal tongue movement, trembling extremities, slurred speech, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adults may include nausea/vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, or unconsciousness, which may be followed by excitement or seizures.

NOTES: Do not sahre that product with others.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
